BBC Q&A: US campus killings

clique!
This is interesting. Discounting the warzones, it puts things into perspective a bit. There are countries with much higher rates of death by firearms than the U.S.; but critics always talk about the rate of deaths “among western nations.” The implication that we are somehow expected to be more “civilized” than Mexico, Russia and Brazil– all of which outstripped us in this regard in 2000– is kind of disgusting.
Clearly there is something wrong in this country. But I can’t decide whether it’s just ugly or stupid, this apparent attitude of, “Hey, you’ve got a lot of rich white people over there! You shouldn’t be acting like this.”
